Word of the Week – Thaw

I can’t tell you how long I have been waiting to have that as my word of the week!

Finally, after what seems like the longest winter ever there are signs of spring. Not the 18C days that some of you are experiencing in the UK, it’s March in Canada after all but there is a thaw under way and as soon as the mercury rises above zero we all begin to celebrate!  The river at the end of the garden is flowing sporadically as we go through cycles of freeze and thaw but on the whole the temperatures are slowly climbing.

It doesn’t matter that the warmer temperatures will bring a little rain because that will help defrost the frozen ground, wash away the last of the snow and turn the grass back to green.

The hint of spring has done wonders for my state of mind – I’m eating better, exercising more and accomplishing more. I feel like I’m coming out of hibernation.

How completely ironic that as I just turned around to look out of the window a few snow flurries fall! Thankfully it will be very short lived, there’s light at the end of the tunnel and after 4+ months of winter we are ready for it, bring on Spring 😀

I bet you’re really looking forward to some sunshine after all that snow – makes me think I should stop grumbling about our seemingly endless winter here in Wales! #wordoftheweek

I’ve felt trapped by snow and ice in England when it has not really lasted much more than a week or two in the past so I can’t imagine how this long lasting freeze must have affected you all. Such a relief to see the back of it I’m sure! #WotW
