About Me

I immigrated to the suburbs of Toronto, Canada in July 2011 from a small English seaside town along with my Husband and two sons.  I have been married almost 21 years and our sons are now 20 and 14.

The main reasons we made the move was to reverse the ‘live to work’ mentality in the UK and enjoy the ‘work to live’ lifestyle in Canada.

After spending our first couple of years as a stay at home mum and struggling with the transformation into a domestic goddess we have now taken the plunge and started up our own business. Fingers crossed we can continue with that ‘work to live’ ideal while trying to get our business off the ground!

I blog about the trials and tribulations of starting a new life abroad, what it’s like being the only female in a house full of testosterone (!) and I share my stories and photos of places we discover while exploring this beautiful country

Your silent Sunday daffodil photo brought me to your about me page. Glad to hear that you have exchanged a stressful life in the UK for a new one in Canada:)

    Hi Lou
I just found your blog through Silent Sunday (the gorgeous owl photo, brrrr) and thought I’d say hi! I’m also an expat (have been all my life really – I belong nowhere and everywhere) and have 2 boys with what seems like a similar age gap as yours. Mine are now 8 & 14. My blog is called “Lou Messugo” after our house (that’s its name!) but I often get emails to “Lou” so what with the boys, the expat thing, blogging and the name I feel we have a lot in common! I look forward to getting to “know” you.
